Tug Valley plays high school football in West Virginia.

Coming soon

West Virginia is coming to Hometown Line

You’re in the right place, and the whole site is open to you. We only show scores a state’s association lets us read and credit, and West Virginia’s aren’t readable yet. Here’s how Tug Valley gets on, and how to play in the meantime.

Play this Friday anyway

Every game on the board is open to you, in any state. Call the week’s biggest games, or follow a state next door.

Getting Tug Valley on the site

West Virginia isn’t published yet. The WVSSAC's scoreboard, schedules and brackets are all MaxPreps, which we do not use; its own site publishes weekly ratings without the games behind them.

In the meantime, a coach, athletic director or team manager can put a school’s season on the site through the Team Desk, and the letter below still asks them to publish.

Ask them

Write to West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission or your school's athletic director. Address it to the association’s office or your athletic director — the contact page on their site has it.

Subject: Schedules and scores for West Virginia high-school football

Dear West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission,

I am a fan of Tug Valley. I follow the season on Hometown Line (hometownline.com), a free game of skill and prediction for high-school football. There is no money in it: readers predict results and are scored on how well they read the games.

West Virginia is not on the site yet because West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission does not publish schedules and scores of its own; they sit on a third-party scoreboard whose terms allow no reuse. I am writing to ask that West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission publish its schedules and scores itself, or as a feed, so that any site may read and credit them. Hometown Line credits West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission on every game.

Thank you for considering it.

Yours sincerely,
A supporter of Tug Valley

Everything above comes from Tug Valley’s own article — except the few lines that name a different one — and is real. Hometown Line also runs a scoring model over West Virginia high school football. Every prediction it makes is the model’s own. Where West Virginia publishes a schedule the site may read, the games ahead are that schedule; where it does not, the fixtures ahead are generated so the model has something to predict. A result is shown only where its source is named.
